Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal 👵🔥

Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal 👵🔥 8.5/10

This story was not what I expected, but I really enjoyed it. These grannies are so scandalous!

I loved the element of mystery with this one, it kept unfolding what really happened to Maya… and it had me on the edge of my seat to find out!

Setting aside the humour and the sizzling sexy stories, it also opens your eyes to the current cultural landscape and some of the generational differences in the Punjabi community. Commenting on the misunderstandings and stereotypes of these immigrant women, it’s a timely read.

Where some parts were so upsetting and frustrating, the overall theme of feminism, and the empowerment of the widows was so satisfying to see.

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ You guys, this book. This was such a great read, it had everything from laughs to tears, some sexy encounters, missed connections, friends with benefits, the movie references, it was amazing. From the title I wasn’t expecting more than a light read but it ended up being so heartfelt, touching on some tough issues and had me balling at one point.

I wasn’t sure about Kristen’s sassiness at first, but quickly came around when I realized how funny and bold she is. Josh was such a sweet guy who was able to roll with all of her punches. Without giving away the important bits, I can’t stop thinking about the heartbreaking chapter days after reading. It makes you realize how important it is to be honest with yourself and shows how trivial things like being in “The Friend Zone” really are.

I can’t recommend this one enough, a romantic reader’s dream. 10/10

Two Romances One Theme

DARE TO COMPARE

Two slow burn romances about childhood crushes turned into adult romances, all while fixing up a house? Two different stories.

I am one of those people that actually really enjoyed 99 Percent Mine and while recently reading Fix Her Up I kept finding little connections between the plot lines of these two books.

From the tenacious female lead that is seen as a “joke”, to the kind hearted males that start to see them differently. Both of the male leads are the brother’s best friend, making the female leads the annoying younger sisters not taken seriously.

They are both reunited after years spent apart growing into their own, and are forced into a situation where they are repairing a home, or working on themselves.

I love this romance theme of childhood crush reuniting as adults, and the fixing up a house setting, it obviously reflects the characters building up their connection together and resolving past situations.

Did anyone else find these two stories similar?

Tiffy and Leon are sharing an apartment. In fact, they’re sharing a bed. Tiffy and Leon will never meet because of their opposite schedules, it’s the perfect plan.

This book is FANTASTIC!! Completely amazing, I wish I could read it for the first time all over again. It was so witty and charming with a truly unique romance storyline, which is hard to come by. The characters were weird and lovable, from Tiffy’s eclectic fashion sense, to Leon’s social anxiety. The secondary characters include Tiffy’s best friends that start to feel like your besties, and Leon’s patients at the hospice that are, again, so endearing these additional plot lines really add to the story.

At the same time, the story touches on some heavier aspects including abusive relationships, wrongful convictions, and hospice.

This book had me laughing out loud the whole way through. Those Brit’s really have a great sense of humour. I could not recommend this book more. Do yourself a favour and read this beautiful book. 9.5/10.

Bleacher report: this book is the best!

My One and Only by Kristan Higgins

My One and Only by Kristan Higgans 💕💍

Divorce attorney Harper is a realist. After her first marriage ended at 20 years old she became a lawyer and began guiding people through heartbreak. Now years later Harper is forced to see Nick again and she soon realizes the feelings she’s been burying never really went away, but will they get it right the second time around?

This one was interesting, at first I thought the writing style wasn’t my favourite but I really liked the actual story. It was just a little scattered at the start with random transitions. I either got used to it or just got into it because once they go on their road trip the story really takes off. I liked Harper’s emotional journey and Nick’s understanding of her. For a romance novel this one really emphasizes the work that goes into making a marriage last which was refreshing. Finally a book that shows it’s not all rainbows and unicorns! I give this one 7/10 💕💍

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover 🎵

REREAD: it might seem crazy when I have a massive TBR pile right now, but I really wanted to reread one of my favourites, Maybe Someday to get ready for Maybe Now the last in this series. This was my first Colleen Hoover book years ago and it was the perfect start to a now undying obsession. In my opinion she is one of the greatest romance authors of all time (the GOAT).

Sydney’s boyfriend has been cheating on her with her best friend. Devastated, her neighbour Ridge helps her out with a place to stay. Soon Sydney is captivated by Ridge’s musical talent, as a deaf guitar player he’s a musical genius. Sydney and Ridge share a musical connection which slowly turns into something more.

I know there is a bit of questionable behaviour with Ridge being in a relationship and all, but you easily find yourself rooting for him and Sydney to get together. 8.5/10 🎵

A Bend In The Road by Nicholas Sparks ⭐️

A Bend In The Road by Nicholas Sparks ⭐️

Miles is a grieving young widower with a 7-year old son in small town North Carolina. As the town sheriff, his wife’s death is still unsolved. Suddenly he meets Sarah and his life brightens. As they fall in love, Miles begins to learn new information about his wife’s case…

I realize Nicholas Sparks is like the Nirvana of “I listen to rock music” but his stories are awesome and bestselling for a reason. This one I’d never heard of and it was no exception, such a quick read, I had to keep reading just to find out who did it (though I had a suspicion from the start 😏). 7/10 ⭐️

Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch

After a brutal breakup Addie finds herself thrust into a road trip through Ireland. Now she’s stuck in a car with her older brother, that she used to be besties with, and his Irish friend Rowan. After finding a guidebook that claims Ireland can heal a broken heart she decides to follow its instructions. Soon the magic of Ireland, and the adorable Rowan, lead Addie back to herself.

This YA was a fun light read that really paints a picture of the romanticism of Ireland. Addie, Rowan and Ian are interesting, lovable characters each going through their own troubles, and the strange but wonderful secondary characters they meet along the way really add colour to the story. My favourite parts were the excerpts from the fictional “Ireland for the Heartbroken: An Unconventional Guide to the Emerald Isle, third edition” I found myself googling to see if it really existed (it doesn’t), I would one hundred percent read it if I could.

☘️💜 7/10. This was a great story but it was a bit limited on the romance front which is what I’m here for. I would still definitely recommend and I am officially super excited for my trip to Ireland later this year!

The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory

The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory ⚾️💙⚾️💙

This one wasn’t a home-run for me (see what I did there?) I was pretty disappointed, it was incredibly slow with the only real excitement in the first chapter. There were some nice moments between Carlos and Nik but their conversations were just so dull, and the romantic scenes were so brief and rushed through. Considering it was a @reesesbookclubxhellosunshine selection I had higher expectations. 4/10⚾️⚾️⚾️

For a palette cleanser I picked up The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo because every review out there says it’s incredible, so onto the next!

My Favorite Half Night Stand by Christina Lauren

My Favorite Half Night Stand by Christina Lauren 💛

.

Millie is just one of the guys with a close group of 4 best friends. All university professors, they have to find dates for a school event. Unlucky in Love, the group decide to try online dating together. Millie and Reid are the closest of the group and while trying out the online dating scene the two end up hooking up. Soon Millie is lying to Reid about more than her feelings and things start to get really out of hand.

.

I’m on a Christina Lauren kick! This is the third book that I have read by them, and while it was great, it wasn’t my favourite of theirs. It’s such a small thing, but I didn’t like the avatars of the characters during the texting parts because I like to picture how they look myself, and once the avatars popped up I had two different images in my head of what Millie and Reid look like. Otherwise this was a hilarious and easy read! 7/10 💛
