Women’s History Month 💕

Happy Women’s History Month! To all the amazing women in my life, thank you. With International Women’s Day this past weekend, this time is all about equality, change and appreciation. In honour of the celebration I thought I’d share a post for She-ology by Sherry A. Ross, a fascinating read that focuses on vaginal health, sharing some truths that I think every woman should know. Dr.Sherry is Reese Witherspoon’s OBGYN and she has a complete digital library online of vaginas with every condition so that readers and patients can understand how each condition appears, while also normalizing how different every vagina is.
Historically, vaginal health has not been researched to the fullest extent, unlike male genitalia. Your physical and sexual health is so important!! Educate yourself and those close to you, and put your health first.
I was gifted this amazing book by @medamour1 and I would absolutely recommend giving it a read!

Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren

Sushi Bowls, Smoothies and Scandal. Yum!

Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren is the bomb! 8.5/10 🔥 Hanna has had a crush on her older brothers best friend, Will Sumner, since she was a kid. Now that she’s all grown up Will has been assigned to help her with the dating scene. But Will is starting to see little “Ziggy” aka Hanna in a whole new light.

The STEAM from this one, good lawd 🔥 I wasn’t a big fan of the first in the Beautiful Bastard series but I’m so so glad I gave it another chance with Beautiful Player. Hanna and Will have a great connection and the coming of age trope was done so well. I love that Hanna is smart and confident all on her own even though she’s 7 years his junior, and it’s Will who thinks he doesn’t measure up. Will’s scandalous lines made the sex scenes fun to read and I absolutely love when a total player finally falls for one girl.

Beard Necessities by Penny Reid

Beard Necessities by @reidromance ❤️9/10 ❤️ you know the book is good when you read it in a day…

This series is like a warm hug. It reminds me of the feeling I get when I watch Sweet Home Alabama for the 100th time. The Winston family are such a loving bunch and Billy’s story is what the entire series builds towards. The unrequited love of Claire McClure and Billy Winston, a second chance romance for these childhood sweethearts that never seem to get the timing right.

I adored this book, and the entire series, but Billy’s story in particular has such heartbreak that when he and Claire finally have their time it’s so dang satisfying. We finally get to hear the inner workings of the stoic Billy, and his quite scandalous thoughts about Claire. Penny Reid has such a great balance of humour, steam and emotion. This is one series I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Do yourself a favour and introduce yourself to the Winston’s.

Valentine’s Day 2020

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💕 As a proud Romance Reader my romantic stack could technically be my entire home library of books, so it was tough to narrow it down to this pile. But these here are my faves at the moment. How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day this year?

I’m celebrating Galentine’s Day a day late this year and hanging out with my girlfriends tomorrow, watching Rom-Coms and the Valentine’s Day episode of the O.C. A day for ladies celebrating ladies, Galentine’s Day is awesome and I can think of no better place where this goes down than here on bookstagram! 💕 There is so much bookish love, and it’s such an awesome space to share. Thank you to everyone who has ever commented, liked or shared a recommendation with me, I always choose my next read from here and you all have such great reviews. Sending out book love to you all 💕 .

Wellness Journals from Medamour

One of my favourite things to do, besides reading, is journaling! I have about 3 agendas on the go, as well as two journals with to-do lists galore, plus a digital work and personal calendar.

It may be chaos but it is organized chaos, and it keeps my thoughts, plans and ideas out of my head and onto paper. Medamour.com is an amazing intimate health and wellness shop run by a friend of mine, and they stock some of the COOLEST books and journals as well as pleasure products and bath essentials, etc. Basically, they are a beacon of self-care and support amongst the doom and gloom of the world wide web.

This past week, thanks to www.medamour.com I hosted a giveaway on my Instagram page. Shoutout to my fellow Canadian @readwellreviews the winner of 2 awesome wellness journals by Monica Sweeney. Thank you to @medamour1 for sponsoring this giveaway, and be sure to check out the www.medamour.com for all your sexual health and wellness needs.

💚 Wicked Sexy Liar by Christina Lauren 💚

💚Wicked Sexy Liar by @christinalauren 💚

And just like that I’m done the series 😩 I loved each and every book from the Wild Seasons storyline and Luke & London’s story was such a sweet ending to it all. *Even better was the short story for Not-Joe/Dylan and Perry at the end, such a great addition!

Anyway Luke and London are the two that are on the outskirts of the “group that went to Vegas”. London being Lola’s roommate and Luke being Mia’s ex, and childhood friend of Lola and Harlow. Ever since his breakup with Mia, Luke has been quite the ladies man. Never really caring about anyone in particular. Until he meets London.

After letting him call her Logan for the entire first night they get together, London knows Luke is only good for a one night fling. That is until one night becomes two and then three and soon enough her perception of him starts to change from lothario to genuine nice guy. He realizes he needs to prove himself to London and show that he’s boyfriend material, but can he shake off his roster of ladies once and for all?

While I really enjoyed this one, I can safely say my favourite book of the series was Dirty Rowdy Thing. I’m giving this one an 8/10. These books do not disappoint!

An Ode to my Favourite Book

Oh The Hating Game. I love this book so very VERY much.

I’m currently re-reading for the third time and I can promise that it does not get old. I adore these characters, and the hate to love trope with a ‘flamethrower’ level passion.

While sitting at work day dreaming about this book yet again, I stumbled upon some amazing Hating Game artwork that other book bloggers have put together. And it is now officially my screensaver. (Thank you @alleskelle.com)

Now the film is supposed to be in production later this year and I quite literally cannot wait!!! Lucy Hale and Robbie Amell are the spitting image of the characters from my mind, I know they’re going to be perfect.

Have you read the Hating Game yet?

Daisy Jones and the Six 💿 By Taylor Jenkins Reid

Daisy Jones & The Six 💿 8.5/10

This month’s Wine & Book Club pick with the girls, and one of the many reasons I love book club, I end up reading outside my favourite genre and try something new!

Daisy Jones definitely lived up to the hype. It made me want to time travel to the 70’s. I loved how badass Daisy was, the drug use and rock and roll vibe may be romanticized but it still radiates cool throughout the book. Like all I’ve read so far by @tjenkinsreid the characters are so well developed they feel like real people jumping off the page. I loved all the different dynamics from Billy and Camila to Karen and Graham.

There was so much heartache, as a Romance Reader it takes some getting used to that it’s not all sunshine and roses but I really liked the unique way the story was told.

I Flipping Love You by Helena Hunting

I Flipping Love You by Helena Hunting ❤️🏚🔨

7.5/10. My cinnamon donut is a nod to Rian and Pierce’s love of Cinnamon Toast Crunch ❤️ From what I’ve read so far of the Shacking Up series, this one wasn’t my absolute favourite couple. I wasn’t a fan of Rian’s tough outer shell and Pierce started out with very little personality. I liked the flipping houses aspect of the story, not so much the other unrealistic scenes (car crashes, running into each other on a date, he’s the lawn guy at the house she’s staying at, etc.).

Even still, it was a great read! Eventually as they warm to each other I became a fan, just not as much as Bancroft & Ruby or Wren & Lincoln. Next up is Amalie and Lex!

Visualizing the Characters

Do you visualize the characters as actors or people from your life?

I’m a very visual person and tend to have an overactive imagination. With that in mind, I ALWAYS visualize the physical details of the characters of the books I’m reading. Usually, without realizing it, I begin picturing a specific actor in the role, or sometimes people from my life.

Rant Warning: One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is when the character descriptions come later in the book. At that point I’ve already imagined the characters a certain way and then out of the blue in chapter 3 the author will describe them as having glasses or being tall with black hair or something and IT COMPLETELY THROWS ME OFF!

Rant over.

Now I thought I would share the characters as I’ve imagined them for Bringing Down The Duke, because so far this book is AMAZING and I can perfectly picture both Annabelle and Sebastian as Rachel McAdams and Charlie Hunnam all done up in Victorian garb.
