My Book Cabinet 💕

I LOVE my new book cabinet!! In my small apartment I had no means of book organization and they slowly ended up spreading out onto every surface possible.

My amazing boyfriend rescued this gorgeous cabinet from being destroyed and now I have a home for all my books!

I even created a rainbow shelf which I’ve been dying to try for a while now.

QOTD: How do you organize your book shelves?

I’m thinking once the beauty of the rainbow wears off I’m going to go back to TBR and Read shelves.

The Right Swipe By Alisha Rai

➡️ The Right Swipe ➡️ by @alisharaiwrites

Rhiannon is a driven, focused owner of thriving dating-app Crush. She has her sights on taking over her competitor Matchmaker. That is until she bumps into the guy that ghosted her months earlier, Samson, the new face of Matchmaker. Reuniting with her ghoster for purely physical reasons is one thing, but Rhi won’t put herself out there again, at least that’s what she’s telling herself…

It’s not this book’s fault, but this took me far too long to finish. Once I finally got into it I liked it! From the writing style, to the characters, the themes, the important issues it tackled including repeated concussions/CTE brain injuries, social anxiety and harassment. Even the sensual scenes were done so well, no cringeyness here. I just wish there was a bit more time spent on Rhi and Samson together. I’m giving this one a 7.5/10 💕👆

Christina Lauren 💕

My girls @christinalauren are quickly becoming my go to when I need a real good romance. I’ve yet to read one of their stories that I didn’t love. Any suggestions for the next one of theirs I should pick up? I was thinking of going with the Beautiful series next…

Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren

Josh & Hazel’s Guide To Not Dating by @christinalauren ❤️🧡💛

Hazel has idolized Josh since her college days. She sees him as the perfect person, so unlike her weird embarrassing self, after a chance reunion years later she’s determined to be his best friend. Deciding to be each other’s wingman they go on a series of blind double dates, until somewhere along the line they start to wish they were only out with each other.

My final book of July and another amazing Christina Lauren, literally every book of theirs has me rethinking my top 5. They are my absolute favourite! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get to Josh and Hazel. Hazel is so wonderfully weird, I love that the moral of the story is simply to be yourself. 9/10 ⭐️

Bukowski

There’s a time and a place for Bukowski.

I think deep down he was just a jaded romantic. His poetry is always so harsh and angry it’s unnerving. I would read it whenever I felt mad or sad or lonely and it would make me realize how trivial the things were that were making me feel that way. Or at the very least it would give me a chance to wallow for a bit reading hate filled words.

I sometimes wonder what Bukowski would think of bookstagram, but then again he was an angry old ass 🤷‍♀️

And that’s the tea ☕️

Pretty In Pink

🎀 Pretty in Pink 🎀 Happy Wednesday bookish friends! 💕

Half of this pink little pile features one of my favourite romantic tropes: “Royalty”. I still remember reading and rereading the Princess Diaries series when I was younger, the idea of becoming a princess was so fun 👑

Have you read any royalty themed romances I should check out?

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ You guys, this book. This was such a great read, it had everything from laughs to tears, some sexy encounters, missed connections, friends with benefits, the movie references, it was amazing. From the title I wasn’t expecting more than a light read but it ended up being so heartfelt, touching on some tough issues and had me balling at one point.

I wasn’t sure about Kristen’s sassiness at first, but quickly came around when I realized how funny and bold she is. Josh was such a sweet guy who was able to roll with all of her punches. Without giving away the important bits, I can’t stop thinking about the heartbreaking chapter days after reading. It makes you realize how important it is to be honest with yourself and shows how trivial things like being in “The Friend Zone” really are.

I can’t recommend this one enough, a romantic reader’s dream. 10/10

How To Date A Douchebag (#1 The Studying Hours) by Sara Ney

How To Date A Douchebag – The Studying Hours by Sara Ney 📓

Sebastian and his athlete friends are the douchiest jocks on campus, they know they could “get any girl in any position”. Jameson is a hard working student who doesn’t understand the fascination with “Oz” Sebastian Osborne, until she does…

“Don’t judge a girl by her cardigan” 📓📚 I didn’t read the summary of this one before picking it up, the title sold me, and I love leaving the story a surprise!

This one had its ups and downs for me. Some chapters were so engrossing and written perfectly with all the feels and missed connections, while others were pretty jumpy with a zillion typos. Overall it was funny, I loved Sebastian once he was less of a douche and could really relate to Jameson’s character, it made me miss the university days! 7/10
